2月17日下午近5時許，新北市三重警分局光明派出所警員執行巡邏勤務，行經重新路與重陽路口，突見菲律賓籍的外勞神色慌張逃逸，於是2警趨前以巡邏機車將外勞包夾，正當菲勞假裝出示證件時，突然往後轉身拔腿狂奔，警方見狀緊追在後。

當時正值放學時間，這情況一旁行人與另名新北高中教官看見，見義勇為加入追勞行列，菲勞終於就範，警方將他帶回派出所查辦，偵訊時菲勞向警供稱，他2012年5月以船工名義申請工作證來台，但因工作繁重加上所得不多，不到半年就逃逸，四處在新北市建築工地打零工維生，警偵訊後，將菲勞移往移民署專勤隊遣返。
